Meet Jessamyn Leigh Kryska

As the founder behind JLK Interiors & Company, Jessamyn Leigh Kryska (the JLK) brings a personal, elevated, and artful take on interiors. After receiving her B.A. in Art History at UCSC and a M.S. in Historic Preservation at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Jess's interior design journey began at Frank Lloyd Wright’s beloved Unity Temple, in Oak Park, IL while she served at Director of Program’s freshly out of grad school. Next, she moved into the world of Hospitality Design, where she worked with a Chicago-based manufacturer and designer of home decor and large-scale custom commercial art over the next 12 years. She also had great passion and love for taking great photos so in 2014, she started her own family portrait photography company with her friend and business partner, Bronwen Mosquera, known as Sonder Lane Photography. Jess's passion for interior design continued to grow over the years and came to a head when her family moved into a 1904 Victorian in Arlington Heights, about 20 miles outside of Chicago, that required a full renovation. It was certainly a labor of love, and going through the extensive reno process led her to finally create JLK Interiors and Company in February of 2025.

Jess's approach to design is deeply personal. Her principal focus is listening and understanding her clients' lifestyles, thus creating spaces that improve their quality of life. Her style is personalized while adapting to each project's unique site, architecture, and client needs. Jess believes in the transformative power of really, really good design and is dedicated to making an impact by creating cohesive, thoughtful, and fun spaces.
